One year after a host-less VMA’s in 2016, Katy Perry will reign the stage as hostess of the annual MTV Video Music Awards.
“I’ve been training with MTV in zero gravity, eating astronaut ice cream, and I’m on a group text with buzz aldrin and Neil deGrasse Tyson.” The American pop-star jokes. “Come August 27, I’ll be ready to be your MOONWOMAN! Brace for impact, kids.”

But wait, THERE’S MORE! Not only will Perry be hosting the VMA’s but she is also the first performer announced on this years lineup. In addition to hosting, and performing, the singer has also snagged herself a total of five award nominations.
According to MTV.com, Perry is nominated for Best Pop, Best Direction, and Best Visual Effects for “Chained to the Rhythm”; Best Art Direction for “Bon Appetit”; and Best Collaboration for Calvin Harris’s “Feels” featuring Pharrell Williams, Perry, and Big Sean.
While Katy Perry’s last VMA appearance was in 2013, we’re sure she is ready to take the stage by storm and own every second of it.
