Paying homage to some of the most notable celebrity photo shoots is Ben Yahr‘s video for his debut single “Shape of Me”. In a song about body positivity and learning to love the skin you are in, this is a video fit to break the mold of beauty standards. Clear in its message, Ben says about the song:
“..I really want to encourage young people, especially young LGBT people to love themselves”
Known for his recreation of Beyoncé’s pregnancy photo, that went viral earlier this year, Ben is making a name for himself in Los Angeles. Clearly not afraid to show off his body, he strips down to nothing in the video.
From Miley Cyrus to Adam Levine, Ben is comfortable in his own skin belting out (the man can sing his heart out) “I love the shape of me”. It is enduring, charming, funny and heartwarming. I found myself dancing to it, just annoying my roommates blasting this pop tune. At one point in the video (that is age-restricted for a reason) Ben finds himself completely naked with a pair of hands covering his crotch, successfully matching his dancing movements to not reveal himself.
